In doing so I will begin with a few premises on which all else follows:
1. Everything I look at will be vegan, as I believe that veganism is a necessary first step towards a responsible diet. However, I also believe that veganism is not enough, and that every eating decision must be made carefully and with extensive knowledge beyond it simply not being vegan. For instance: soy, though it is the most common alternative to meat, is also responsible for clear-cutting more rain forests than any other industry in the world, thus indirectly killing billions of animals, valuable plant life and organisms
2. Capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy and all other systems of oppression within society have greatly degraded the quality of food on all levels.
3. Reverting back to local growing and strengthening our communities are absolutely necessary steps for the future of food if we wish to overcome food-oriented problems from world hunger to rampant obesity to poor working conditions in food producing nations.
Thats it for now.
